With 20 entries the Melges 24 class will be the biggest at this year's North Sails Race Week. Raced in the beautiful waters off Long Beach, California, this 3 day event (22-24 June) attracts top competitors from around the world in a wide range of classes.
I am currently flying back from Finland having taken part in the Melges 24 Finish Championships. We were invited to take part approximately 2 months ago and with a little friendly persuasion from Tomi Hakola and Ari Bloom we made the easy choice to attend.

With great sadness we have to inform you that 43 year old Giorgio Zuccoli passed the finishing line on the night of 27 March 2001. For once there were no cheers only tears from his family and many friends across the world who feel the pain of having lost a person whom we all loved and respected.
