The organisers of the 2010 Melges 24 North American Yacht Club, to be hosted by Rochester Yacht Club, New York State, USA, from 17 to 25 September 2010, have now launched the EVENT WEB SITE and have posted the draft event schedule.
With the Volvo Cup 2009 series getting underway later this week in Alassio we caught up with Italian Class Secretary Luca Babini for an update on attendance numbers and an exciting new information support system that will be trialed at the event:- "We expect about 55 boats on the starting line.
Please note that a couple of small typing errors were found in the original new set of Melges 24 CLASS RULES published by ISAF in January. A revised set of CLASS RULES correcting these errors has now been published and are available to download.
We have received word from the Hungarian Class today that it has sadly been forced to cancel the planned inaugural Hungarian Open Championship which was due to have been held from 1 - 3 May 2009 on Lake Balaton.
The three Melges 24s competing at the St Maarten Heineken Regatta in the Caribbean got the week off to a great start yesterday by scoring 1, 2 and 5 in the first race for the Division Five Sportsboat Class.
From IMCA Technical Advisor David Chivers - Sailmakers were informed of the new CLASS RULE regarding zip luffs in jibs in November 2007 and again in October 2008 before the rule actually came into force. The subject has been well known about and put in class news regarding rules etc.
