With a record entry of ninety boats, the forthcoming 2009 Melges 24 European Championship hosted by the COYCH in Hyeres, France from August 23rd 28th, has clearly shrugged off the effects of the global economic downturn currently impacting other one-design classes worldwide.
On the 2nd July 33 boats from as far afield as Finland, Sweden, Germany and the East and West coasts of Norway met at Hank in South Eastern Norway for round 3 of the Alfa Romeo Cup.
