From Joy Dunigan of the USMCA - Day two of the 2007 Sperry Top-Sider St. Petersburg NOOD constituted for light air sailing in the morning and some great easy-breezy afternoon sailing for the Melges 24 fleet. The first race was painfully slow to watch.
From Joy Dunigan of the USMCA - Cold. Downright cold would best describe St. Petersburg, Florida as a very brisk front moved through the area on Thursday leaving behind frigid weather for the forty boat strong Melges 24 fleet. Out front is John Pollard from Torquay, UK on 'GBR-650, Xcellent'.
From the Yacht Club de Monaco - For his first attempt in the Primo Cup, Lorenzo Bressani at the helm of Spider, together with the Pavesio brothers, regulars of the Primo in the Platu 25 class, was always in the lead, winning four races and retaining eight points ahead of second placed Big Ship-Marse
Please note that there has been a very slight change to the dates of Torbole Melges 24 Race Week which will now start on Wednesday 18 July and will finish on Saturday 21 July. The Sector Long Distance Race around Garda will be run on Sunday 22 July.
The Melges 24 class arrived in South Africa with a flourish by being the fastest boat in the keelboat class of the 2007 Sanlam Around The Island Race sailed off Val Dam.
AUS 668 "Melges Asia Pacific" took second place in the Australian Bundaberg Rum Sportsboat Nationals held at Skandia Geelong Race Week, Melbourne, Australia from the 25 27 January 2007 over the Australia Day weekend.
