There has been some confusion over what is and is not legal with regard to the fixed forestay. All masts constructed after November 2008 must be fitted and used with the fixed forestay. This includes new masts supplied to old boats after a breakage.

In an exciting lastminute development the City of Annapolis has invited theSheehy Lexus of Annapolis Melges 24 World Championshipto use the Annapolis City Dock facility as its Regatta Center for the forthcoming championship which takes place from 23-31 October 2009.
