Split, Croatia to Host 2024 Melges 24 Europeans and Hyeres, France Wins Right to Host 2025 Melges 24 Worlds
April 13, 2023 - The IM24CA World Council's EGM held on April 12, 2023, voted to hold the 2024 Melges 24 European Championship in Split, Croatia in early October and to hold the 2025 Melges 24 World Championship in Hyeres, France in mid-September.
The Melges 24 Class had a good problem to solve yesterday when having many great options to choose from for the 2024 and 2025 title championships. Five bids were submitted for two upcoming events in 2024 and 2025. Both Croatia and France earned an overwhelming win over their competing bids when 15 National Class representatives and Executive Committee members voted in favour of them.
Being new to the Melges 24 international fleet, Split is the sailing capital of Croatia, an excellent venue and will support a fast-growing and high-standard Melges 24 fleet in Croatia. The Sailing Club Split annually organizes up to 10 regattas, including national championships and international regattas, making it a suitable venue for the event.

Then Hyeres is a world-class venue with a fantastic racecourse, a record of strong winds and wonderful hospitality the Class remembers from the 2009 and 2016 Europeans. The Class is looking forward to encouraging the beginnings of a revival of the Class in France which was once its greatest fleet in terms of numbers.
Congratulations to Croatia and France! Thank you for all your efforts and willingness to host the International Melges 24 fleet!
The International Melges 24 Class is grateful to Yacht Club Marina Portoroz in Slovenia, Yacht Club Isole di Toscana in Scarlino, Italy and Balatonfüred Yacht Club on Lake Balafon in Hungary for offering great competition and setting the bar of standards to such a high level.
The decision on the venue for the 2026 Melges 24 Europeans will be made at the AGM in November.
All submitted bids are available on the EGM website.
