Hyeres, France – 1 September 2009-Competitors at the 2009 Melges 24 European Championship in Hyeres, France which ran from the 24th– 28thAugust were treated to some idyllic weather conditions for the ten race series.
Lorenzo Santinis highly talented Italian crew aboard UKA UKA Racing, have just made Melges 24 history by becoming the first team to hold the World and European Championship titles concurrently.
After a short postponement ashore while we waited for the wind to come up the teams are now leaving the dock in Hyeres ready to do battle in the final race of the 2009 Melges 24 European Championship.
Stop Press - Uka Uka Racing wins the 2009 Melges 24 European Championship in Hyeres. The battle for second place between Blu Moon and Alina was incredibly close with the two boats match racing around the course. On the water Blu Moon got the better of the match finishing 9th with Alina 19th.
Hyeres, France 27 August 2009-Pierre Lemaire, Principal Race Officer at the 2009 Melges 24 European Championship, was amongst the very few people in Hyeres fully confident that the breeze would arrive in time for racing on day four.
