Facing the relaitvely long way to travel to the Oil Capitol of Norway, Stavanger 28 boats had made the trip.

FB - You are reigning European Champion but you will not be defending your title here in Torbole. How come you are organising this event and not sailing in it?CR - I had decided before we won the Championship two years ago not to sail this year.

Following the problems with lost entry information experienced by the yacht club in Torbole I am delighted to report that the majority of entrants have now been in contact with the club and re-confirmed their entries.

Jim Schwerdt has been working hard on our behalf with shippers Peters & May and J P Reynolds to find a great shipping deal for the Worlds. Initial indications were that the total cost would be around US$12,000 but careful negotiations mean they have been able to almost halve this.

Around 20 entries from 7 nations are anticipated at the German Open National Championships, which take place from 25-28 July at the Luebecker Yacht Club as part of Germanys famous Travemuender Week.With the 2002 Worlds taking place in Travemuender many of the crews are taking this opportunity to sta
