Urgent Class Rule Suspension Announcement

URGENT ATTENTION - MELGES 24 CLASS RULES C6.1.6 & C6.2.5 SAIL TRACK STOPS - TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED. From the International Melges 24 Class Association. 16 January 2008, For the Urgent Attention of all Melges 24 owners and sailors. The following International Melges 24 Class Rules, which came into force on 1 January 2008, will be temporarily suspended with immediate effect from 16 January 2008 until further notice:-

Rule C.6.1.6
The mast shall be fitted with a securely fixed sail track stop as supplied by the licensed builders.

Rule C.6.2.5
The boom shall be fitted with a securely fixed sail track stop as supplied by the licensed builders.

Unfortunately the builders have not been able to make the necessary track stops available at the current time and competitors are strongly recommended NOT to fit alternative non-builder supplied track stops as these may cause serious damage to the rigs.

A further announcement will be made reinstating this rule at www.melges24.com as soon as the builder supplied track stops are available. This announcement will also include details of how you can order the necessary stops. Please note that these rules will be suspended for the duration of ACURA Key West Race Week 2008.

If you require any further information or have any questions regarding this rule suspension please contact IMCA Technical Advisor David Chivers on E-mail daveis@dial.pipex.comor Tel +44 (0)7860 106641 (UK time zone).
