Sail Measurement Reminder For Worlds Competitors

Official Announcement From Sheehy Lexus of Annapolis 2009 Melges 24 World Championship Chief Equipment Inspector Tim Winger - All sails that are presented for inspection at the 2009 Melges 24 World Championships must have been measured by an official measurer and bear the certification mark, measurer’s signature and date of measurement near the tack.  Official ICA labels must also be properly fixed (stitched) to the sails (see IMCA Rule G.2.2(d)).  The sails presented must comply in all ways to the IMCA Rules.

If sails show up at the event that are not in compliance as above, it is the competitor’s responsibility to find a way and the resources to bring the sails into full compliance.  There will be no facilities at measurement to do sail measurement and certification.  Any sail measurement will be done off the premises and outside of scheduled measurement hours.  There will be no availability of ICA labels either through the Class or event measurement.  The event organizers and measurers have no responsibility to help competitors bring their sails into compliance.  It is in everyone’s best interest to take care of all sail measurement prior to arrival at the regatta.
