Saetta Takes Victory At Volvo Cup Torbole and Wins 2010 Volvo Cup Series

The 2010 Volvo Cup series came to a spectacular close this weekend as Niccolò Bianchi, Enrico “Chicco” Fonda, Michele Giovannini, Daniele Fiaschi and Cesare Claudani sailed Saetta to victory in both the Torbole Volvo Cup Regatta and the overall 2010 Volvo Cup Series. Going into this final event Hurricane - Murphy and Nye, sailed by Alberto Bolzan, Paolo Testolin, Danieli Cassinari, Stefano Ciampalini and Simone Spangaro and Saetta were the clear leaders of the overall series and this final event became a thrilling match race finale as the two boats fought for supremacy.  

The twelve race Torbole Volvo Cup featured classic Lake Garda conditions and the 61 teams from 13 nations and three continents, of which 30 teams were Corinthian, made the most of four perfect racing days with three races being completed each day.  The battle between Saetta and Hurricane - Murphy & Nye went right down to the final race with the two boats only being separated by two points in the final rankings.  Flavio Favini, helming Franco Rossini's Blu Moon took third place in the regatta with Peter Podunavace of Solvenia fourth and Riccardo Simoneschi fifth.
