REGISTRATION COMPLETE AND CREWS ALL SET TO GO IN SAN FRANCISCO
At the Audi Melges 24 World Championship all the boats are now registered and everyone is set for the start of racing tomorrow morning. This afternoon the majority of competitors took part in the practise race which gave both the sailors and the race committee a chance to warm up although in the time honoured tradition the majority of the fleet did not actually sail through the finish line (who says Melges 24 sailors are superstitious?!).
Away from the sailing, the highlight of the day had to be the stunning air displays laid on as part of Fleet Week (a celebration honouring the US Navy) which featured incredible aerobatics by the Canadian Snow Birds, the American Blue Angels and numerous other aircraft. The spectator fleets made the trip to and from the race course quite hectic but the timing of the main displays, just before and after racing, couldn't have been better.
Racing officially starts at 10.30am tomorrow but at the present time we're anticipating a short postponement as the forecast incidates the wind wont come in until around lunchtime. Two races are scheduled each day and racing runs through until Friday 17 October.
