Register Your Crew Now to Obtain Corinthian Status

With the 2006 season now getting underway please don't forget that if you want to race in the Corinthian (all amateur crew) division at Melges 24 events this year you need to ensure your crew members have all obtained or renewed their ISAF Sailor Classifications. Please remember that to qualify as Corinthians the helm must be an ISAF Group 1 sailor and that the crew must be ISAF Group 1 or 2 sailors. ISAF Group 3 sailors may not sail aboard Corinthian boats.

Please remember that this applies to each event throughout the year so if you are racing in the Continental or World Ranking and want to qualify as Corinthians you have to race every single event with a Corinthian crew. If you sail one event with a Group 3 crew you will loose Corinthian status. Please also remember that you must declare your Corinthian status by the close of registration for each event.

Obtaining and updating your sailor classifications from ISAF is very simple and in most cases goes through almost immediately, however, if there are any queries on your application (for example if you work for a marine company even in a non-sailing capacity) it can take some weeks for ISAF's adjudication panel to make a ruling on your application so don't leave it until the day before the first event - apply now and avoid disappointment.

To apply for a Classification you must first register with the ISAF Sailor on WWW.SAILING.ORG, click 'New Sailor Registration' on the left hand menu, once registered the left hand menu will have a link to the 'Sailors' Classification' under the ISAF Sailor Services where you can update your details, apply for a new Classification or print your current certificate. If your Sailor Classification has expired please log back into the system using your original ISAF User ID and click on 'Sailors Classification' to get to the Classification Area. Then click on 'Request New Classification'.
