PAT LAMBERT OF THE FLORIDA YACHT CLUB INVITES YOU TO THE KINGS DAY REGATTA (16-17 NOV) THE FINAL EVENT OF THE 2002 WORLD RANKING
Greetings from Jacksonville and the Florida Yacht Club, Pat Lambert here. We are gearing up for our Kings Day regatta in November and are of course looking forward to hosting the Melges 24 fleet again. This will be our ninth consecutive year for the Melges fleet and we are planning on another good one, particularly as this is the final event in your 2002 World and North American Ranking Circuit!
The FYC is just finishing a 2.5 million dollar renovation and this will be our first regatta where we get to show the place off. The weekend shapes up pretty much as we have done in the past. Rigging and practice races on Friday. Oyster roast with adult beverages Friday evening at the Fleet Center. Racing starts Sat. early, with a big party, band, a lot of adult beverages and other debauchery later that evening. Racing early Sunday morning, off the water early in afternoon and an awards party with food and more adult beverages after racing on Sunday.
Last year we had 32 boats and great weather and are expecting the same or better this year. I will be mailing a flyer out to the fleet this week with all the particulars. Just E-mail me with your address if you want to be added to the circulation or if you need more information.
