New Class Rule C.3.9 - Urgent Reminder

The new rules are now in force and we have had the first major event of the year. We are still waiting for supplies of the track stops so the temporary suspension of rules C6.1.6 & C6.2.5 remains in place, but all other rules should now be in force. It would seem at Key West that some people have not read the rule regarding the Gate Line. The new wording is:

C.3.9. The rear gate line across the transom shall be closed whilst racing. It shall be in one continuous piece, fixed using shackles of optional design. The deflection at the centre when measured from a straight line between the attachment points shall not be more than 75mm.

Please note that you are not allowed shock cord in the gate line anywhere and that there is a maximum deflection of 75mm from a straight line across the attachment points. If you do not have a straight edge the right length, tie a tight string between the two attachment points and measure down at the centre. Whipping twine is the ideal string for this job.

This is one item that will soon be checked at regattas so make sure you are legal.
