More News From Yachting Fullservice Agency Czech Yachting Tour

Yachting Fullservice Agency, a marketing company based in Prague and working in close cooperation with Devoti Sailing, launches the Melges 24 Yachting Tour – a series of regattas in the Czech Republic, and a charter company operating Melges 24 in Europe. Due to the boom of the class in the Czech Republic a National Class Association is also being established.

The project, Melges 24 Yachting Tour, involves the purchase of 9 new Melges 24s. The boats will be used in an organised series of 5 regattas in the Czech Republic throughout the 2007 season. Each of the 9 participating teams, for an entry fee of 8.929 Euro will be provided with a full service of a ready to race boat on the water at 5 regattas. The venue will be the Lake of Lipno, close to Czech/Austrian border. The Czech National Championship is also scheduled from 7th to 9th of September on the Lake of Lipno. The Championship will form part of the tour series as well as the closing regatta held in Prague from 6th to 7th October.

The fee will also include 5 days of practice, making a total of 16 sailing days together with the tour regattas. Each boat will be supplied with a spinnaker with the teams sponsor’s logo, which, after the season, becomes the property of the team. Apart from financing the fleet of 9 boats from the above-mentioned project the next aim is to offer the boats for charter. Therefore, we have planned that none of the Czech regattas collide with any major European Melges 24 events. Thus ensuring all the boats will be available for any regatta. The boats can be chartered with or without sails, which come brand new in April. Proven sail makers, North Sails, were selected to build our sails –. Sail cuts will be: mainsail AP3, jib J7 and VMG spinnaker. Prices (see WWW.MELGESTOUR.YFA.CZ) are ex. Prague but transport directly to the regatta venue can be organised. A repeat charter discount scheme is also available.

The 9 new boats together with 3 purchased during the 2006 season make a total of 12 Czech boats ready to race in the 2007 season. These facts deserve the establishing of our own National Class Association (NCA) in the country of the European boat builder. This is just what is happening at this time. Our NCA will be running the class in the Czech Republic and communicating with the rest of the world, the body will be also responsible for organising the Czech National Championship. Plans are already well advanced for the National Championship of 2007, which will be held on the Lake of Lipno, 7th to 9th September. All 12 Czech boats are confirmed on the entry list. The organisers wish to invite all Melges sailors across Europe to take part in this, our inaugural National Championship. The Championship will be sailed from the beautiful venue of Sumava. This venue has already hosted, and received very positive responses from International sailors from other one-design classes.
