Statements to sailors enquiring about their interviews. V2
Where the NOR clearly states that there will be spot checks and interviews during registration and that a boat cannot race until all checks are completed.
Introduction
ISAF cannot discuss a sailor's classification with anybody else but that sailor. This is for legal reasons.. Furthermore, ISAF cannot give assurances that sailors will be "all right" as it has no idea what an interview might uncover.
Responses
To an enquiry to have an interview at any other time or place:
"The Notice of Race requires that interviews will take place during registration at the event. The representative of the ISAF Classification Commission will only be present at this time. No other arrangements have been made and ISAF is not able to change them."
If it is the sailor enquiring please say or write:
It is the responsibility of each sailor to be totally open and honest with ISAF when applying for classification. This includes a continuing obligation under the Code to inform ISAF immediately of any circumstances which may lead to your classification being different. Provided your last application remains up to date and correct, there should be no reason for concern. However, if any new circumstances come to light which have not been disclosed to ISAF or if you were not frank in your initial application, then it is possible your classification may be changed.
In the first instance, please consult the FAQs on the ISAF website which contain useful information about classification and how it may apply to you. If your circumstances have changed or you now realise that you have not been fully open with ISAF, then you should re-apply on the ISAF website immediately and then email the ISAF Office stating your name, ISAF Sailor ID and the fact your application relates to the event. Please note that while ISAF will try to process any applications as soon as possible, it will not grant an application where any doubt exists about the information supplied. This is in order to be fair to all other sailors who hold classifications.
If the owner or boat captain enquires please say or write:
