MELGES 24 US: After Long Winter Season, Northeast Melges 24s Gets Ready For Summer With New Racing Events
With Winter now gone and spring very much in play throughout the Northeast corridor of the U.S., there are two really great events coming up soon that Melges 24s are invited to attend — the all new Kreidefels Cup hosted by the Tred Avon Yacht Club and the Larchmont Yacht Club's (LYC) Sportboat Grand Prix.
KREIDEFELS CUP
A brand new regatta hosted by the Tred Avon Yacht Club located in Oxford, Maryland has invited the Melges 24 Class to participate in the two-day regatta. Taking place on May 9-10, the Notice of Race (NOR) has officially been issued. This event will be a nice relaxing regatta post Sperry Charleston Race Week (S-CRW). The intention is to run as many as 4 to 5 races a day with .5 to .8 mile beats. Download a Notice of Race (NOR)
Registration will be open shortly. Storage is also available. For further information regarding this event, please contact Regatta organizer Chris Kalinski (USA-414, Zoo) via email or by phone. His number is enclosed within the Notice of Race.
LARCHMONT YACHT CLUB SPORTBOAT GRAND PRIX
LYC has a new event, the Larchmont Sportboat Grand Prix, Memorial Day weekend May 23-24. There will be a separate circle from the traditional YRALIS one design weekend racing to allow for more races, not having to wait around for Etchells and Shields to finish, etc. The Melges 24s are invited and it would be great if any northeast area Melges 24s wanted to come out. We know there are boats scattered through the area from New Jersey to Newport who don't have as many one design opportunities in the summer. Download a Notice of Race (NOR). Online Registration is now available!
