Melges 24 Training Session Event hosted by Lucky Dog Racing and Coach Ed Adams on February 19-21, 2016

The Lucky Dog Racing Team and Ed Adams will be putting on a three-day Training event in Miami Feb 19, 20 and 21 sailing out of our 2016 Worlds Venue Miami Yacht Club.  This event will focus on boat set up, boat handling, speed, roundings, starts AND racing.  The plan is to start the days with drills and speed testing and then end the days with 10+ races EACH DAY.  These will be short course races with lots of action.  And best yet all this will be done on our Worlds Course area in the Ocean.  If you have never had the chance to work with a world class coach before, this is your chance.  Ed is one of the best in the business and you will get better as a skipper and a team by just taking part and working hard in all the drills.

If all of this didn’t sound good enough, these dates are almost exactly one moth before our second “official” event at MYC.  So this is a great chance to shake the rust off again and be fresh for March.

In order to be able for each team to maximize their time with both Ed and the group we are going to cap the total participants at 10.  If we get “significantly” more people we could add an additional coach.  One thought for the additional coach could be Bear Peet with his emphasis being on crew work and how best to do that; he is an expert in those positions in the 24.  But again this is only if we have more interest than the first 10; but pass the word to all our boat owners; if we get more we will try and get more coaches.

Cost:  The cost will be simple; it will be the total cost of Ed’s daily rate, the coach boat, his travel expenses and any F & B we want as a group at MYC.  Then divided by the total number of owners; its estimated currently around $500 per boat; but this could be higher or lower.  A non refundable deposit will be required to hold your spot and all payments will be made to me and I will be responsible for paying for Ed etc (refundable if the event gets canceled).

To my knowledge this has not been done before in the class, but it will be an awesome opportunity for all M24 teams from the pro to the Corinthian teams and everyone in between.  So don’t wait email me now if you have any questions or to get your spot, lets get sailing, get better and have some FUN; sailing the best Sport Boat in the World!
