MEASUREMENT CERTIFICATES WILL BE REQUIRED FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Several owners have made contact regarding the requirement for all boats to have full measurement certificates at the forthcoming World Championship. You will need to produce your certificate and in fact should have one anyway to prove your boat really is a Melges 24 (important for the resale value of your boat)!

There is a simple procedure to follow to obtain a certificate so take action now to be sure your paperwork is in order in good time for the Worlds.

STEP ONE
- If you have a completed and signed measurement form which was supplied with the boat when new proceed to step 3.

- If you do not have a completed measurement form and a copy cannot be obtained from the builder proceed to step 2.

STEP TWO

- Get your boat measured by an official class measurer.

- US owners E-mail Hal Pickering on halpick@home.com to find out where your nearest measure is or make arrangements for him to measure your boat if a local measurer isn't available (he is already setting up a measurement
session at the forthcoming Atlantic Coast Championship in Jacksonville for instance).

- European owners boats please contact your class secretary for a list of measurers.

- Please note that there will be a charge for the measurer's time and he is entitled to claim his travel and any subsistance expenses as well.

STEP THREE

- Once you have the completed measurement form it then has to be converted into a certificate.

- In the US the form is sent to the US Class Technical Officer who will sign it and apply the official class raised seal to convert it to a certificate. Hal Pickering will advise contact information for this.

- In the UK and France the form is sent to the National Authority (RYA or FFV) who will the issue a certificate. Please contact your class secretary for details of the system in your country.

- Again there may be an administrative charge for the certificate.
