Land Rover Kelowna Melges 24 Canadian Nationals - Stage 1 of the North American Melges 24 Tour

March 30, 2016 - Kelowna, BC, Canada - Canada is Stage 1 of the North American Melges 24 Tour and local racing has started on Okanagan Lake! With 31 boats registered for June’s Land Rover Kelowna 2016 Melges 24 Canadian Nationals, they’re in the thick of planning the event, and with last year’s great wind conditions, it’s looking like a fast season.

This is the first event of this kind for the Kelowna Yacht Club and the Melges 24 committee is doing all they can to make it a first class race experience for visiting teams. The dollar exchange is great value for US boats right now and over a third of the boats are from south of the border.

As founders of the global Extreme Sailing Series™, Land Rover Kelowna has partnered with the 2016 Melges 24 Canadian National Championship and recognizes the Melges 24 Series as a top level sailing event. Their long term vision to “organize entertaining, environmentally and socially friendly events that leave a sustainable legacy” also fits with the green event and water protection actions planned for the Melges 24 Nationals. 

There are only a few months to go for Stage 1, June 24-26 in Kelowna, BC Canada. If you’re coming from the US, registering with the current high dollar exchange is great value, plus early registration will give the Kelowna group time to ace this first Melges 24 event for visiting boats!  Stage 2 is in Lake Geneva, US Oct 6- 9 and Stage 3 is the infamous Miami, US Worlds Nov 26 - Dec 3 and these Canadians can’t wait to see you in Kelowna!
