KING'S DAY REGATTA IS OFF TO A GREAT START

Last night teams partied until early evening with oysters, beer and other beverages at the newly renovated facilities of the Florida Yacht Club. Everyone had a lot of fun after 17 boats turned out for practice races conducted by Skip Miller, Waterfront Director. “It was a great opportunity for boats and crews to get used to the current which always a competitive factor when sailing in Jacksonville, to tune and shake the nerves out.”

Overcast sky’s prevail this morning as the King’s Day Regatta gets underway. A total of 36 Melges 24s are on the startline including top names Arygle Campbell, Jeff Jones, Brian Porter, Morgan Reeser, helmsman Doug Clark onboard with Paula Zubrzycki and Harry Melges will be crewing with Sheldon Ecklund.

With a few last minute registrations and a skipper’s meeting held by Regatta Chairman, Pat Lambert wished everyone great racing and continued festivities later today at the club. He expressed the FYC's excitement for such a wonderful turnout. Rick Preston, On-water Chairman briefed helmsman and crew on all race stipulations as well as what will happen in the result of bad weather.

Reports and results will follow later today.
