IMCA World Council AGM Elects New Executive Committee
At the 2010 IMCA World Council AGM held on Saturday 20 November in Berlin a new Executive Committee was elected to manage the day to day business of the class.
Taking over as Chairman of the Class if Riccardo Simoneschi of Italy. Riccardo has already served on the IMCA Executive Committee as Vice Chairman for four years and brings a wealth of experience in class and sailing administration to the role.
In order to ensure continuity for the Class outgoing Chairman Guenter Tzeschlock of Germany has been elected as Vice Chairman Europe to support Riccardo and the new team.
The position of Vice Chairman North America has been filled by newcomer Simon Strauss, a New York based Brit. Although a newcomer to the Executive Committee Simon is no stranger to International Melges 24 Class administration having represented the USMCA at previous World Council meetings.
Stepping into the role of Executive Committee Member Europe is Norway's Jens Altern Wathne. Jens has also attended World Council meeting regularly in recent years representing the Norwegian fleet so is already familiar with the key issues facing the class.
Also new to the committee this year is Executive Committee Member North America Chris Farkas of San Francisco. Chris has been doing sterling work on the West Coast revitalising the Melges 24 scene and brings an exciting new perspective to the Executive Committee.
Rounding out the Executive Committee is Tomi Hakola of Finland who remains in post as Secretary/Treasurer.
