IM24CA World Council Extraordinary General Meeting - 12 August 2024

Dear IM24CA World Council,

As you may be aware, the IM24CA Executive Committee made a decision to withdraw the 2025 Worlds from COYCH in Hyeres, France, due to the French class's inactivity. 

The IM24CA representatives met with the venue representatives and the leaders of the French class over the course of several weeks to discuss this situation.

We need to move forward to approve a new location/venue in Europe for the 2025 Worlds.  We must follow our constitution and move relatively quickly so that the venue and the sailors can make plans.  At this time, we are giving notice of an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) at which a decision will be made and notice of a deadline for bid submissions.  Please remember that your role as NCAs, the executive committee, and IM24CA officers (and the Technical Committee) is crucial, as you are the only ones, who can submit a proposal to an EGM or AGM.

Here is the timeline:

• July 1, Monday: Notice of an EGM is given to the World Council with 6 weeks’ notice; the topics of this EGM will be the approval of the venue for the 2025 Worlds and the 2025 North Americans
• July 15, Monday: Deadline for the submission of bids for the 2025 Worlds and the 2025 North Americans
• July 22, Monday: Deadline for the submission of the bids received to the World Council
• July 24, Wednesday at 3 pm ET: Meeting for proposers to present their bids to the World Council
• August 12, Monday at 3 pm ET: EGM via Zoom

When you submit your bidding proposal presentation/documents, please include the submission form and a signed pre-agreement to indicate your commitment and agreement with the IM24CA Event Management Requirements and Championship Rules. Both are available on the EGM website under the Tab "Forms".

For those interested in hosting any future championships from 2025 onwards, you are welcome to submit a Letter of Intention to the EGM.

The number of votes per country will be the same as the votes used for the 2023 AGM.

NOTE: Nations are asked to confirm the name of their representatives or proxies and any observers to the Class Administrator Piret Salmistu at piret@melges24.com as soon as possible but before the EGM on August 12.

If a World Council Member is unable to attend a meeting, his NCA may appoint a substitute for that meeting only. Such designations shall be in writing and received by the Treasurer/Administrator of the IM24CA prior to the meeting. Each NCA must inform the IM24CA Treasurer/Administrator of the name of their appointed World Council member or proxy substitute before the start of the AGM.
