IM24CA AGM 2024 Minutes Published
17 November 2024 - The World Council of the International Melges 24 Class Association held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) virtually on November 17, highlighted the class’s growth, achievements, and plans.
Key updates included:
- Class Growth and Leadership Changes: Notable contributions from outgoing leaders in Norway and the USA were recognized. New leadership appointments aim to sustain the class’s momentum.
- Media and Communications: The 2024 media strategy saw significant growth, with a 12.5% increase in Facebook followers and 843 new Instagram followers. Engagement through dynamic race-day content was a highlight.
- Financial Health: The class experienced a 15% increase in income, with strong performance in sail label royalties and membership growth. Plans for 2025 include stable budgets and a working group to enhance sponsorship opportunities.
- Technical Updates: The Technical Committee addressed rule updates, including sponsorship logo adjustments and new equipment standards. The proposal for fixed forestays was withdrawn for further review.
- Future Events: Key events planned include the 2025 World Championship in Trieste and the North American Championship in Miami. The 2026 and 2027 championship venues will be decided at the February 2025 EGM.

We are grateful to the many clubs and organizations that host our events, helping us remain a vital and thriving class. Our technical committee continues its diligent and thoughtful work, addressing concerns and advancing class rules to keep us moving forward.
Looking ahead, an upcoming EGM in early 2025 will allow the class to select venues for the 2026 World Championship and Continental Championships.
