Hungary Continues to Develop Its Melges 24 Fleet

From Márta Weöres, Secretary of the Hungarian Class - It was only recently that I have announced via the IMCA Newsletter the arrival of the first Melges 24 to Hungary. In fact it was January 2008. Just four months after I am happy to inform you that we have three additional boats arrived to our country! Our first team, Team Proximo helmed by Arpad Litkey has been successfully participating at numerous European regattas, whereas the other three teams are just learning to rig their boats.

We held our first Melges 24 Clinic in Gyenesdiás (at Lake Balaton) recently where all 4 boats have participated. Arpad and his crew have helped to set up the boats and show the tricks and techniques of how to sail the boat. Thanks to the support of the Italian, German, Swiss and British Melges 24 sailors and IMCA given to Team Proximo we have already saved some time and are on the way to catch up with the international fleet. It was a great success and we hope to continue our development.
