HOT NEWS ABOUT THE 2002 MELGES 24 WORLDS NEW FROM GUNTER TZESCHLOCK OF THE GERMAN MELGES 24 CLASS

Dear Melges24 sailors,

The German Class Association (Ulli Strosek / Günter Tzeschlock) met on 17th April 2002 the organisation team for the Worlds 2002. We held a meeting with Dr. Claus-Dieter Stoltze, the managing director of the hosting “Lübecker Yacht Club”.

He reported about the actual situation and we were impressed about the efforts they have already done to organise a perfect event for the Melges24 class.

Just a few highlights:

There will be organised three cranes to hoist the boats, it will be not necessary to organise a shuttle-service for the trailers, as the location is big enough to store them during the event just beside the cranes.

For competitors arriving early and taking part at the Tune-Up Races will be berthing available at the “Priwall” – for the event all boats will be moored at “Leuchtenfeld” just alongside the promenade in front of the Race-office and the Clubhouse. It’s just a 5 minute trip from “Priwall” to “Leuchtenfeld” when you use your outboard.

The social events are already well organised and we look forward to relaxed meetings after the races.

For families and supporters will be organised a vessel to join their heroes on the race course, the boat will leave two times per day (morning / afternoon) depending on the wishes of the guests.

Begin of July will be printed the programme where all details will be fixed, we keep you updated via
www.melges24.com.

Dr Stoltze asked us to inform you about some important matters:

1) Accommodation: Organise your arrangements as soon as possible
!
2) Support: Helping hands for measurements are welcome!

3) Sponsorship: If you or your sponsor would like to place an advertisement in the official programme give us an order
until 31st May 2002 – the cost for * page (A4) will be approx. €uro 500,00.

4) Charter Boats: We need your support! As the German fleet is rather small and most of them will start at the Worlds, we would be pleased if you come in contact with Fiona Brown who is coordinating this important matter.

The German Class Association will keep contact with the organisers and keep you updated about news and facts.
