German Melges 24s Enjoy Bericht von der Nikolausregatta One Day Regatta

The days may be getting short and the temperatures dropping in Europe but that's not going to stop the German Melges 24 teams from getting out on the water and enjoying some fun racing. This weekend they've been taking part in the Bericht von der Nikolausregatta 2009 in Sonwik.

Jan Schmidt reports and sent us a fun video clip. There were six races on a short two lap windward leeward course with each race taking around 30 minutes. Spectators could watch from the pier and we enjoyed some lovely weather with the rain holding off until we were back in the harbour pulling out the boats. It was a great event with everything contained in one day - stepping the mast, putting the boats in the water in the morning, sailing 6 races, taking the boats out again, taking the mast down and then enjoying some great hot soup before the drive home! And it was so worth it.

Our next short regatta will take place on Christmas Day 25 December in Flensburg. Welcome to the wintervirus !
