Thus, the sixth regatta from the CRO Melges 24 Cup series once again set a record for the number of crews. The CRO Melges 24 Cup is getting stronger in terms of competition from regatta to regatta, which is a clear indication of its recognition in the world of sailing and the growth of the class in Croatia.
"We are extremely glad that Labud will host great Croatian sailors at the Melges regatta during the Split month of sailing, which guarantees a true spectacle at sea. To have such a start list with the best of the best is a great honor, and certainly the holding of the big Mrduja contributed to a record number of crews that will further enhance the sailing holiday in Split," said Josip Olujić from JK Labud.
CRO Melges 24 Cup has in a short time become the most numerous and strongest sailing series on the Adriatic. Five regattas and a total of 30 races have been held this year, and currently the Universitas Nova crew of Ivan Kljaković Gašpić is in the lead ahead of Panjić Luka Šangulin and Mataran 24 Ante Botica.
"The competition is great, the winner is decided by nuances, so all of us are very excited to sail in Melges. This weekend in Split will also be special because of Mrduja, and for us this regatta is an ideal preparation for the European Championship in Melges, which starts in Genova at the end of October," said Ivo Matić from the Trogir crew Mataran 24.
