Gabrio Zandona Wins European Ranking

Congratulations to Italy's Gabrio Zandona and his Joe Fly Team, including owner Giovanni Maspero, winner of the 2005 International Melges 24 European Ranking. The Italian teams dominated this year's European Ranking filling the top nine places. Nicola Celon took second place from Andrea Racchelli with Riccardo Simoneschi in fourth and Roberto Martinez fifth.

For 2005 the IMCA World Council voted that the ranking scores should reflect the number of boats attending each boat with regattas with higher entries scoring more points than the smaller events. An administrative oversight meant that earlier editions of the results did not include the correct points weighting, however, this has now been incorporated and the full results and details of the scoring system are now available online. Our apologies for any confusion caused by this error.
