FYC GEARS UP FOR THE KING'S DAY REGATTA

As teams gear up for a weekend of exciting racing in Jacksonville at the Florida Yacht Club for the 2002 King’s Day Regatta – the racing and planned parties promise to get the US Winter Series off to a great start as well as wind down the International World Ranking competition. Jamie Lea has clearly won the World Ranking competition (who will not be present), followed by two other English teams. On the North American Ranking scene - leading into this weekend’s event, first place is occupied by Mike Dow (USA-128/513 “Flying Toaster”) followed by Jeff Jones (USA-497 “Kilroy”) in second place; Peter Dalton (USA-522 “Minor Threat”) is in third.

The FYC celebrated a grand opening on Tuesday, November 12 sporting a 2.5 million dollar renovation. The King’s Day Regatta will be their first opportunity to show off the new décor and facilities. The turn out for this event has been gradually growing over the past years and is guaranteed to please again this year. With some top names crewing and hoping for a record turnout in participation this regatta is set to be a success.
