Follow the Melges Virtual Regatta With Live Commentaries
April 6, 2020 - Do you miss sailing? We all do! That's why Melges USA and Melges Europe, together with Zerogradinord, are promoting to gather the Melges community all over the World before we can get back to the race courses! Melges Owners, sailing lovers, sailing pros - we will meet virtually!
Virtual Melges World League kicked off last week - given the huge number of participants, the fleet was split into two random groups (called Group A and Group B).
Both groups have had their first rounds sailed (5 races per day) and will have two more rounds.
The first 19 PLACES OF THE OVERALL RANKING, WILL BE ADMITTED TO THE “GOLD DAY”, PLANNED FOR THURSDAY APRIL 16TH, that will DETERMINE THE WINNER OF THE FIRST ACT OF THE VIRTUAL MELGES WORLD LEAGUE.
🥇Current leader of the Group A is Stefano Bragadin, the owner of Melges 24 Enjoy from Italy! And he will sail against others again on Tuesday, April 7th
• 8.50PM CEST with warning signal at 9.00PM
or
• 10.20PM CEST with warning signal at 10.30PM.
Mauro Melandri of Zerogradinord will broadcast the virtual regatta and his guests for interviews and live talks will be:
- Miles Quinton, IM24CA Vice Chair Europe and the owner of the boat Gill Race Team GBR;
- Jens Altern Wathne, former IM24CA Chair and the owner of boat Party Girl NOR;
- Travis Weisleder, former USM24CA Chair and the owner of Lucky Dog / Gill Race Team USA;
- Tomi Hakola, former IM24CA Treasurer and the owner of FIN742;
- and hopefully some more.
The Group B will sail again on THURSDAY; APRIL 9.
Group A will race on:
• Thursday the 2nd April
• Tuesday the 7th April
• Sunday the 12th April
Group B will race on:
• Sunday the 5th April
• Thursday the 9th April
• Tuesday the 14th April
