Flavio Favini Leads Lorenzo Bressani & Riccardo Simoneschi In Melges 24 World Ranking With Seven Events To Go
We're now about two thirds of the way through the 2010 Melges 24 World and Continental Ranking Series and in the World Ranking Flavio Favini of Italy currently leads fellow Italians Lorenzo Bressani and Riccardo Simoneschi. Favini has an 10.5 point margin over Bressani with Simoneschi 6.7 points back in third. Yet another Italian fills fourth place in the shape of Andrea Racchelli who is 24 points adrift of the lead. The first non-Italian team in the World Ranking is currently that of Hungary's Arpad Litkey in fifth with American Alan Field lying sixth.
In the European Ranking it is again an Italian benefit with Italian teams filling the top seven places, but this time its Alberto Bolzan who leads the fleet by just 0.3 of a point from Nicolo Bianchi. Flavio Favini lies in third 1.2 points behind Bianchi followed by Lorenzo Bressani, Riccardo Simoneschi, Carlo Fracassoli and Andrea Racchelli. Japan's Kan Yamada is in eighth place with South Africa's Ian Ainslie ninth and Hungary's Arpad Litkey tenth.
In the North American Ranking Alan Field has a 4.2 point lead over Paul Hulsey with Guy Mossman third and Nick Amendola fourth. Canada's Richard Reid taks fifth place and the top ten is currently rounded out by David Dabney, August Hernandez, Dan Kaseler, Henry Filter and Steve Kopf.
We are just awaiting results from last weekend's Czech Open Championship and still to come in the ranking are the Norwegian, Swiss and Slovenian Championships in Europe plus the North American Championship, the Lake Geneva Fall Championship and the Atlantic Coast Championship in North America. Further details of these events are available from the Regatta Schedule.
