Flavio Favini & Blu Moon Lead Volvo Cup Scarlino Going Into Final Day

Day two of the Volvo Cup in Scarlino brought more good weather, three great races and some exciting changes on the leaderboard.  The top performer of the day was Italian America's Cup star Flavio Favini sailing Franco Rossini's SUI782 Blu Moon who dominated the fleet winning the third and fifth races and taking a nice symmetrical  fourth in the fourth race.  With his worst result of the series so far, an eighth in race one, now discarded and with three wins to his credit he leads the regatta on seven points.

Hard on Favini's heels is his old nemesis Lorenzo Bressani, at the helm of Lorenzo Santini's ITA787 UKA UKA Racing.  Bressani's 3, 1, 12 score for the day puts him on 12 point, just five behind Favini and still very much in contention as they go into the final day of racing.

Overnight leader Tonu Toniste sailing EST790 Lenny had a very mixed second day, opening with a 15th in race three, followed by a disappointing 26th in race four and finally bouncing back with a sixth in race five.  Even discarding his 26th place his score isn't sufficient to hold onto the top slot and he drops down into third place on 28 points.  Also on 28 points is Jean-Marc Monnard sailing SUI599 Poizon Rouge while Italy's Alberto Bolzan, sailing Paolo Testolin's ITA727 Hurrican, is in fifth on 32 points.
