Federico Michetti to Become Italian Melges 24 Dealer

From Devoti Sailing • The Melges 24 is a reality in Italy that is attracting a lot of attention especially from the federation, boat owners, professional sailors and the media. And, in the past years the class has been able to grow quantitatively and also qualitatively, gaining the best professional and non-professional sailors in the country as well as abroad. In order to meet the needs of this fast growing market Devoti Sailing, already the official distributor for the Melges 24 in Europe entrusts the exclusive distribution of the Melges 24 in Italy to Federico Michetti and to his newly founded company, Freddys.

It would be difficult to identify on the Italian sailing scene someone that knows better and loves more the Melges 24 class than Federico. He was the pioneer of the Melges 24 in Italy, has been World Champion together with Giorgio Zuccoli in 2000 who is mainly responsible for introducing the M24 into the Italian market. He is a two-time European Champion with Joe Fly in 2003 and 2005 not to mention topped the Melges 24 World Ranking List during those years with the team of the same name.

Federico faces this new entrepreneurial challenge with two new ambitious projects as an answer to the needs of the class.

The first goal is surely to be the distributor for the Melges 24 in Italy. But, is also to become the new point of contact at international level for all the Melges’ by Devoti.

At the same time Federico is planning on opening the first Melges Point in co-operation with Giorgio Tortarolo. The concept of this unique centre not only foresees experienced technical assistance, spare parts, storing possibilities and maintenance, but also specialize on the logistics of the boat before, during and after the regattas. The service will become of help particularly to all the foreign teams who want to sail in the fantastic Mediterranean sea. In other words the Melges Point is the sole centre in Italy offering not only technical but also sportive support in four different levels according to the client’s needs.
