Christen Horn Johannessen Wins Swedish Open Championship 2012
Congratulations to Norway's Christen Horn Johannessen and his team aboard NOR400 on their victory at the 2012 Swedish Open Melges 24 Championship held at Stenungsund, Sweden on the weekend of 12-13 May. With twenty-five teams from Sweden, Norway and Denmark competing, the event was further evidence of the fantastic growth of interest in the Melges 24 currently being seen across the Baltic region.
Over the two days of competition the crews experienced a mix of conditions and some great racing. Ultimately the battle for the victor's laurels came down to a final race dog fight between Horn Johannessen and his fellow Norwegian Oyvind Peder Jahre with Horn Johannessen taking victory by just a single point. Third place went to Kristian Nergaard, also from Norway, with Denmark's Peter Warrer fourth and Sweden's Jonas Berntsson firth.
