Campionato Italiano Melges 24 - Audi tron Sailing Series: Trapani is getting ready to welcome the Melges 24 fleet
September 8, 2015 - Trapani, Italy – After the Melges 32 World Championship and the Audi Melges 20 European Championship the city of Trapani is getting ready to welcome the last Melges fleet and its Italian Championship. This weekend, it will be the time for the the Melges 24 Italian Championship happening 10-13th September.
On the start line some teams that are leading the international sailing scenario such as Audi tron helmed by Riccardo Simoneschi, leader of the Audi Italia Sailing Team with Gabriele Benussi calling tactics and Altea with Andrea Racchelli, president of the Melges 24 Italian Class, second on the podium at the last World Championship in Middelfart.
The coming event is the penultimate act of the Audi tron Sailing Series before Luino taking place 9-11th October. The next “King of Salt" will be getting its crown after the First of the King (Audi tron, Loano), the King of Poets (EFG, Portovenere) and the King of the Lake (Marrakech Express, Riva del Garda).
The sailing series organised by B.Plan Sport&Events in cooperation with Melges Europe has registered a total of 54 international participating teams through over 15 races. Overall ranking leader is Audi tron, followed by Lenny with two-time Olympic medalist Tõnu Tõniste.
The streaming
The Melges 24 Italian Championship will be streamed live with Italian and English commentary by Mauro Melandri from Zerogradinord, BPSE Agency media partner. The streaming will be starting in the morning with pre-race interviews, every video will be immediately available for the vision on demand.
