Big Winds On Day Two Of Volvo Cup In Sanremo

Day two in Sanremo started off grey and miserable but with a building wind and by the time the fleet reached the race area they had around 25 knots giving ideal conditions for some fast planing and great racing. The race committee managed to complete two further races in the often gusty conditions which saw a top gust of around 34 knots. Saetta ITA-716 helmed by Alberto Bolzan
was unattackable, defending in first position and extending their lead with two further wins. It was also a great day for Lorenzo Gemini & co on SIV Proeco ITA-482 which, after a disastrous opening day, played the squalls and waves perfectly to finish 4th and 2nd and move up into fifth place overall. Going into the final day Matteo Balastrero in ITA-693 Giogi is in second place 14 points behind Bolzan, with Michael Hestbaek aboard ITA-766 Arteria 24ever third and Enrico Zennaro sailing ITA-798 Little Wing fourth.
