Australian Class Hold First AGM
The recently established International Melges 24 Association of Australia held it’s first AGM on Thursday 24th Jan at a pub in Geelong.
Heath Townsend owner of “Kaito” and Vice Commodore of Geograph Bay Yacht Club was elected as President with John Hall owner of “Anarchy” from Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron voted in as Secretary. Both have followed the development of the Melges 24 Internationally and in Australia and have a passion for One Design racing choosing to become an integral part of the flourishing Melges 24 class.
Vibrant discussions about topics such as the 2008 event calender, the World Championship in Italy, venues for the proposed Australian World Championship in 2012, etc, were had by an enthusiastic group of like minded competitors.
Whilst the meeting took place families and friends of all the yachts got to know each other better over a delicious meal and a few bevies. As this is the first time all the M24’s have come together it provided a great opportunity for a pre regatta talk it up cup.
