Audi tron Sailing Series in Italy - The series' next stop is Portovenere
Portovenere, Italy – After Loano, where the Melges 24, Audi Melges 20 and Melges 32 “First of the Kings” have been crowned, Audi tron of Riccardo Simoneschi, Fremito d’Arja of Dario Levi and Stig of Alessandro Rombelli, the series organised by B.Plan Sport&Events (BPSE) in cooperation with Melges Europe is moving towards Portovenere.
Recognised in the year 1997 by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the smallest town in the La Spezia province, is a completely new sailing venue for the Audi tron Sailing Series. The town lies at the southern end of a peninsula, which, breaking away from the jagged coastline of the Riviera di Levante, forms the western shore of the La Spezia Gulf, or also known as the Poets. Portovenere is a very famous seaside resort thanks to its beaches (the most famous of all are on the Palmaria island), its Regional Natural Park, its sea caves (Byron, Azzurra and Tinetto) and many more places of interest such as the Doria Castle that dominates the marine village, the White Mary sanctuary and St. Peter's church.
In Portovenere all sea operations will be managed by the Circolo Velico La Spezia, BPSE will be crowning the “Kings of Poets” over three weekends as just happened in Loano. The first boats taking to the waters will be the Melges 24s, 1-3. May followed by the Audi Melges 20s (9-10 May) and the Melges 32s (15-17 May).
