Attersee Cup Report

From the German Class Association - On weekend 13./14. May the first ever Melges24 Regatta was sailed in Austria. Josef Hackl and the SVK-race-committee organised an excellent event. 11 boats were on the starting line to gain points for the German Ranking 2006 and to be the first winner of an Austrian event.

On Saturday we had bright sunshine - but no wind. On Sunday the rain was back but with winds up to 20 knots. So the boats left the docks on 09:30 o'clock and 5 (!) races, each 50 - 60 minutes, were sailed without break. When the boats returned around 15:30 o'clock to the harbour everybody was happy and exhausted. The race was won by Michael Schineis on AUT 521 "Edelweiss", second place went to AUT 251 "Kookaboora" owned and helmed by Josef Hackl, third place went to GER 507 "Fefra" owned and helmed by Manfred Hänle.
