Four days of racing and as many as three championship races are scheduled each day from Wednesday, 29 October to Saturday, 1 November. The 2008 NAC is a prelude, the ultimate warm-up, to the excitement that awaits the fleet in 2009 at the Melges 24 World Championship, also hosted by the Eastport Yacht Club. The 2008 NAC provides the perfect opportunity to experience first hand the competition, conditions and current delivered by world-famous Chesapeake Bay.
The Notice of Race provides some initial information regarding all aspects of the planned regatta including entry fees, Corinthian guidelines, and a detailed race and social schedule. Please visit and bookmark the official website for the 2008 North American Championship, as online registration and other sponsor announcements are coming soon.
In tradition with all other major, internationally sanctioned Melges 24 events, the 2008 NAC is expected to attract the very best sailors in the world with many well into preparation mode. Look for these same individuals to warm up at the U.S. Gold Cup in Long Beach, Calif., 27-29 June; 2008 Sail Newport Regatta, 11-13 July; U.S. National Championship in Charleston, S.C., on 18-21 September, and the U.S. Fall Championship in Lake Geneva, Wis., on 4-5 October. The U.S. Melges 24 Class is serving a full line-up of events leading to the action and competition in Annapolis.
Annapolis is a center point for sailing in the U.S. and with the assistance of PRO Jeff Borland, supported by a dedicated team of experienced individuals at the Eastport Yacht Club, the 2008 North American Championship will be nothing short of spectacular.
