US Nationals Day 2 Clean Report & Video - A Family Affair

Here's Mr Clean's day two update from the 2011 US Nationals - We said yesterday that everything would look different after the throwout came in at the Melges 24 US Nationals, but with Nathan Wilmot on Embar dropping a 6 and Bora Gulari on New England Ropes dropping a 7, the brothers (Gulari has Jeremy Wilmot calling tactics) are TIED!  The two Lake Geneva natives; Harry Melges (Babs) and Brian Porter (Full Throttle) are fighting for third, double digits back from the two young(ish) guns, and if the wind cooperates, there might be a final race tomorrow for all the marbles.  Embar protested NE Ropes today for a port/starboard at the finish, but decided to drop it.  “We were guilted out of it” said one Embar crew.  “We just wanted to keep it interesting,” said another with a smirk.

Tons of photos like this one of brother checking back on brother, both in the thread and on Facebook from Meredith Block.

Below is an impromptu OTW Anarchy “Cocktail Hour” with a fun panel of M24 crew, talking about the current state of the class, the competition level over the past couple of years, and whether they’re looking forward to the 2013 Worlds, just a week after the America’s Cup on the same piece of water (link here).  Be sure to check in on the thread tomorrow – we are going to make a valiant effort to bring you live streaming video of the final race and we’ll let you know there.
