PLATO Sailing Team wins German Open 2013

After three beautiful sailing days in light winds and sunny weather all teams had a perfect weekend at the German Open 2013 in the north part of Germany.
The Race Committee team of Karlo Schmuetsch started day one with four races in a light breeze of 8 -12 knots near the Fehmarnsund - Bridge. Markus Scheel and his team on GER 690 PLATO made the best out of the conditions and led the fleet three points of Thomas Hacklin aboard FIN 836 Navy Sailing.
After racing the hosting yacht club Seglervereinigung Heiligenhafen (SVH-SSCH) served a delicious meal for all competitors.

The morning of the next day started with a breakfast in a traditional fish market hall for all sailors. On the water PLATO fought a strong battle against Navy Sailing for the first place, which leads to close match racing situations.
After eight races PLATO claimed the lead – the second day finished with a barbeque organized by the club and the brewery Stoertebeker Braumanufaktur which supported the event with free draft beer.

After finishing three more races on sunday in lighter winds of 6-8 knots the PLATO Sailing Team became the winner of the German Open 2013.
