Final Warm Up Before the Season Starts
March 31, 2016 - Porotoroz, Slovenia - Fifteen teams signed online for the Melges 24 Clinic in Portorož to brush up on racing skills and learn from the current World Champion Christopher Rast representing Quantum Sails as Melges 24 expert. The water session focused on practice starts and boat-handling maneuvers as the coach boat followed the fleet giving instant feedback to the teams.
The clinic ended with a debrief in a packed room where sailors discussed some of the common issues seen among the one-designs like set-ups, speed tips, trim and crew placement.
“What a great way to start the season! All the tips were really useful. We got plenty of new information, especially about boat handling.” – Robert Bakoczy / FGF Sailing Team, HUN
“We really appreciated the possibility to practice with other teams, which does not happen very often. We also made some minor changes on board but most importantly improved our starts.” – Sergio Caramel / Arkanoé Aleali by Montura, ITA
“I can’t tell you enough how valuable was the discussion with a world class sailor like Chris. I am impressed that he took the time to help us get on track. It really means a lot to teams like ours, who just started racing in the Melges 24 class.” – Tomislav Bašić / TB Race Team, SLO
