Charleston will be hosting 2020 Worlds as the only candidate – IM24CA World Council at the Annual general Meeting 2018 was happy to read thorough bid to host the Worlds by\u00a0Randy Draftz<\/strong>, founder and organizer of the\u00a0Charleston Race Week<\/a>, which under his leadership has evolved to become the largest keelboat regatta in North America.<\/p>\n

The 2020 Melges 24 World Championship<\/strong>\u00a0would be a stand-alone event, with the added advantage of coming on the heels of Charleston Race Week, Regatta Management\u2019s flagship event.<\/p>\n

Regatta Management is a full service, turn-key yacht race management company, which has proven its capacity to host and run successful, first-class international regattas. Regatta management has run several M24 events – the Miami Worlds in 2016, Charleston Nationals, Miami Midwinter Tune-Up helped with the M24 Worlds in Victoria – and consulted with the Inland Yachting Association regarding their Championship event.<\/p>\n

Regatta Management and the US Melges 24 Event Championships Inc propose to the host the 2020 Melges 24 World Championships.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Event Headquarters<\/strong> – We propose that the Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina serve as the event site. This resort with its 200 plus rooms and marina will provide a great experience. There are also less expensive hotels, within two miles of the marina and great beach houses on Sullivan\u2019s Island and Isle of Palms available for rent.<\/p>\n

Schedule<\/strong> – Racing would be held beginning on the Tuesday following Charleston Race Week. Dates yet to be determined but usually the middle to third week of April.<\/p>\n

Course Venue<\/strong> \u2013 The courses would be set in the Atlantic Ocean in the area just south of the harbor jetties and in the Charleston Harbor if requested.<\/p>\n

Competitors Fees<\/strong> \u2013 We prepose a fee structure that would be as inclusive and as reasonable as possible.<\/p>\n
